The little guy has recently started to use more words than ever. Unlike Charlotte who seemed to be in a rush to conquer the world – starting with the English language – James is quite relaxed about the whole learning words concept. He just doesn’t see the value of complex sentences when a single word, conveyed with the right tone and volume, will do.
Recently as I tried to rush us out the door for work and day care I had this conversation with him.
Mama: James, where are my keys?
James: *grinning* Gone.
Mama: Seriously James, where are Mama’s keys?
James: Allllll gone.
Mama: Sweetie if Mama can’t find her keys then we can’t go in the car to day care.
James: No car.
Mama: Yes, in the car and off to day care.
James: No.
Mama: Oh yes and what would you rather do?
James: Could-a? (James-speak for cuddle.)
Mama: No keys? No cuddle.
James: Okay.
Mama: *starting to lose it* James Mama needs her keys right now!
James: No. All gone. Could-a?
Mama: *slyly* James, do you want dolly?
James: Yah!
Mama: Dolly’s in the car.
James: *forlornly* Car?
Mama: Yup.
James: Nooooo.
Mama: ‘fraid so. No keys? No car – no dolly.
James: Dolly? Car?
Mama: Keys. Now.
James: *grudgingly* Okay.
Eight words in total and not all of them even pronounced properly but he still managed to make himself perfectly clear.
*rofl* Efficient communication! He'll go far. ^_^
